Just out of curiosity, which version of the Waxman album will be included on this set?

Some of the best compilations ever recorded. The Herrmann album alone is worth that price. Absolute buy.

The Amazon UK listing has a track list: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B082BWZRCH It looks like it contains the shorter programmes for the Korngold and Waxman discs.

The last round of releases generally sounded much better than the surround versions that preceded them, EXCEPT for a couple of very bad wow problems (for one particularly bad example, at the very start of the Treasure of the Sierra Madre suite). As I understand it, these problems go back to early releases of the LPs that were subsequently corrected, but the old unfixed versions were used for the last CDs. There's mention of it in other threads.
If these are fixed in the very affordable new release, I'll buy it. The new set is made in the EU, while the last set was a US release. Perhaps they've used different sources? That has been the case in the past, like when the US released the surround version of Gerhardt's Star Wars / Close Encounters, while europe released a non-surround CD.

£24.78 at Amazon UK, so the SAE price is very good (but financial bonkers to import to the UK). I have them all, but will probably buy this set for neatness.

...but this set seems to be missing the Spectacular World of the Classic Film Scores, so I'll hang on to that.

Don't get your hopes up. These budget box sets are usually just re-issues of the latest remasters available (in this case of the yellow-orange covered CDs).

These 12CDs are just the older LP versions.

Same programs as the previous reissues. Most of the titles were OOP and fetchng high prices on the secondary market. So it will be great to have those missing titles That I needed in this set.

Probably without the original liner notes.

Which I missed out. Having them in one affordable shot is just the ticket. I can only hope there isn't a variance to make those previous albums a necessity.

Why would people want the longer versions? They literally take music from other discs....which exist on this set.

Also expect there to be ZERO liner notes on this, just a bunch of cardboard sleeves with a tracklist on the back of each one.

There is at least one score on this set that is represented by different music on different discs. I can't remember which, but a suite appears on the composer's disc, whereas other music appears on either the Humphrey Bogart or Bette Davis album.

ROBIN HOOD, JUAREZ, SEA HAWK All three have bits split among the Korngold, Davis, and Flynn albums. But I see no problem with that.

The 13-minute expanded suite from "The Fountainhead" isn't in the original set. It's only available in the USPS "Celebrating the Classics" single-disc release, as part of their composer stamps release. The suite in the Classic Film Scores set is only 8 minutes.

Pretty sure there's a significant amount of music in the extended The Sea Hawk (15:35), Of Human Bondage (12:24) and Between Two Worlds (7:30) suites on the longer original Korngold CD not represented anywhere else here.

And Peyton Place from the longer Waxman CD is only otherwise present on the "Spectacular World..." CD, not included here.

I guess this ends Dutton-Vocalion's remasterings and expansions of these discs.

Hey, this is a bargain. I'm in. But it probably does end those remasterings and expansions.

    Cheers

I thought the THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD suite on the Dutton-Vocalion remaster of the LOST HORIZON disc was never released before.

I presume that will be missing from this box, so there may still be value in the Dutton-Vocalion discs.

    Cheers
