The score for the ORIGINAL version of this film (as directed by Richard Williams) has some really incredible stuff like the opening theme, the love theme and the theme of the war machine. (And I know that the rest of the music was scored with classical pieces) Since the film technically wasn't completed these pieces were taken out in the subsequent versions of the film. I've always been curious as to whether it would even be possible to access the original elements for this music, if they exist.
On IMBD it says the music for the original version is by David Burman, David Cullen and Peter Shade, but I don't know who wrote what. Howard Blake did do some story writing for the film, but I don't know if he arranged or composed any music on it. I'd be interested if anyone has any more knowledge about it!
There’s still some question as to who wrote what on the workprint, however David Burman provided Garrett Gilchrist a few of the cues he wrote for the film (some of these can be heard in the most recent edit of the Recobbled Cut and I’m sure Garrett will be willing to share those cues) such as the cue linked below (which is heard in the Mark 4 cut during the Polo scene and again later after King Nod’s speech following the theft of the Golden Balls) and an early version of the love theme.
