Barry scored 9 films during this period. Five were released on album:

The Last Valley
Mary, Queen of Scots
Diamonds Are Forever
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
Follow Me (in Japan)

Subsequently the following released:

Murphy's War (on a Ken Thorne anthology)
Monte Walsh
Walkabout

Only They Might Be Giants has not been released.

Side note: Barry's 1971 has to be one of the best years ever for a composer-for-hire:

He scored Walkabout, Mary, Queen of Scots, Diamonds Are Forever, The Last Valley, and supplied themes for They Might Be Giants and Murphy's Way PLUS composed his best stage music in Lolita, My Love AND had a top 10 hit in England with The Persuaders.

I came here after seeing Monte Walsh for the first time, being overwhelmed by the variations Barry wrote for his beautiful, gorgeous theme. (I have heard this music on disc, but it was really something to hear it matched to the movie's moods.) There is also some great showdown music worthy of a James Bond climactic sequence.

A good list here of Barry's range and "colors" in this three year period.

Damn, you're right about 1971. What a year for Barry.

Too bad Lolita tanked, because the experience definitely seemed to affect Barry's creative energy.

The great pity is that while this era is well represented on record, only one of these great scores that had a album in the day have been expanded on CD*/**, and it is probably not possible to do the others due to missing elements.

* An isolated score track of Mary Queen of Scots was released, but this is a post-edited music track, not the original session recordings. The full recording of Follow Me is an extra on the UK Follow Me Blu-Ray, but it's in mono.

** There have been re-recordings of course, but I'm referring to the original elements, which I'm passionate about being preserved as well.

Alice's Adventures In Wonderland is the worst off of the lot. At least The Last Valley did get re-recorded, and at least there is an isolated score track of Mary even if it is cut, spliced and dialed in and out.

Oh, if only those recordings were surfaced and licensed....

Cheers
