Are there any iconic LIS library cues that did not make it to the 12-or-whatever-disc set? Offhand, I know that "Klaatu" by Herrmann was not included. Any other major ones? The stock cues from "Luck of the Irish" (Cyril Mockridge) that were heard in the episode "The Astral Traveler" didn't make the set. Also, a piece of "hillbilly" music heard in the episode "The Space Croppers" - "Plow Song" by Lionel Newman - also didn't make the cut. There's a bombastic, piano-heavy theme that plays over the episode titles of "A Visit to Hades" that also isn't included. I'm still clinging to the probably not very realistic hope that we might someday see a one or two-disc "encore" set that will gather up all the remaining bits and pieces. (To be clear, I completely understand that it simply wasn't possible to include absolutely everything in the box set, and I hope it doesn't sound like I'm complaining about the omissions - the LIS box is probably my single favorite soundtrack release ever, and I have nothing but gratitude & appreciation for the way La La Land pulled this amazing collection together.)

Thanks for all this. I watched LIS religiously between the ages of 5 and 10. While so much of this music is burned into my psyche, it is hard for me to remember how frequently the music was used. For example, how often was the jet pack cue used? Similarly, the Klaatu music? Obviously, music that showed up in the early episodes of the first season had the potential to be used in a greater number of episodes than music that appeared late in the final season. I guess I am really trying to determine if there were any "important" or frequently used library cues - other than Klaatu - not on the box set. I suppose I could rewatch the series, but that ain't gonna happen.

I hadn't even realized the "Klaatu" cue was used in the show, but now that I think about, I'm guessing it probably served as the "Robotoid" theme in the episode "War of the Robots"?

I think it is in an early episode involving John Robinson being on trial. Am I remembering correctly? Well, early second season: Prisoners of Space, and yes, that was one episode it was used. It was also used as early as the unaired pilot while Penny and Will were looking for Debbie the Bloop in the alien city ruins. This cue was used a lot in the series, usually when they wanted to convey something sooky.

The 50th Annniversary box does include at least some of the "Day The Earth Stood Still" cues heard in the pilot: the booklet mentions Outer Space, Escape, Gort, Terror, Nocturne, and Finale. These are all on disc 12.

Nope it is not. When they recreated the score for the pilot, they apparently picked a version (there were two - three if you count the version used in the 4th episode) or they simply decided the score was readily available. Or...just felt like they spent enough.

Less fattening and more satisfying than binge eating. It's good music no matter what version you dig.
