I have been a big fan of this score since the movie came out. It won an oscar for best comedy or musical score and that bothered a lot of people. I thought the oscar was well deserved, but that's not the point of this post. I just mentioned it proactively because I figured someone would jump in and say it didn't deserve the oscar. Go ahead, if you must.

What this post is about is that, thus far, only six of Dudley's cues exist on cd totalling 13.25. I just recently re-watched the movie and I believe her score is longer than that.

Anyway, as it is now, the six cues are spread out over not one, not two, but three cds! The original soundtrack contained 2; the follow-up--More Monty--contained two more. So, I thought I'd get that oscar promo disc that has been floating around--it has 5 tracks.

But that 5-track disc leaves off one from the 4 commercially released cds, but then adds 2 others that weren't on the first two.

So I have her score spread out over three cds.

This music has attitude, it's colorful, and is one of those rare comedy scores that doesn't sound like accompaniment to slipping on a banana peel.

I would love to see some label put out Anne Dudley's score--all on one disc; perhaps couple it with another worthy short score.

I’ve posted this a few times before, but the theme is a horrible rip-off of Bill Conti’s Rocky, and poor Bill Conti has to actually conduct it as Anne Dudley collected this pointless Oscar.

Not a rip-off of Rocky but an intentionally sluggish, low-budget reference. While both films deal with underdogs rising to the occasion, Rocky's theme was large and flashy--there is no running down historic steps with a grand view of Philadelphia in The Full Monty; Dudley, on the other hand, uses the Rocky reference to underscore their loser existence. Judging by your favorite scores you have good taste. I'm surprised you hate this score.
