There's a lot of titles I want; but I just don't know if it's a good time. I keep hearing that mail can be risky. Can anyone offer some clarity?

I use the USPS almost every day in both my personal and professional tasks and nothing has been lost even recently. They are still a reliable service. Use it. I can't imagine catching anything through the mail!

It's doubtful you'll catch the virus from your mail (if that's what you mean).
But just to be on the safe side, spray or wipe down your parcels with some antibac spray or wipes, just in case the postman (usually the last person to handle your mail) is like the monkey out of Outbreak wink
But yeah, keep on buying those CDs. Gotta keep the economy going.

And if your mail package is ticking, put it in a bucket of water.

As soon as I open my CDs I put them in a corner and don't touch them for 4 days. I then wash my hands thoroughly with soap and water. So I'm still buying stuff, but have noticed that there isn't so much out there to buy on ebay.

I hope you give them a dish of water and some newspaper to go on.

The virus can last a few hours to a few days on some surfaces. But its taking longer than usual to get your mail so its probably dead by the time you get it. (if its on the package) The only real threat would be if the last person who handled the package has the virus. (the delivery man)

Or perhaps the OP was asking if it was wise to order stuff right now as all the delivery companies are overloaded with parcels and there's a bigger chance than normal packages will be delayed or lost in the mail.

I've always treated the mail like a possible source of head colds. Unless it's been around the house for a few days already, I sanitize my hands after handling it. I just assume the mailman has touched anything and everything.

Exactly what I was wondering too. I live in Sweden and usually when I order it takes actually one month!!! from the day I order until the day I receive it so I thought it may take even longer unless it gets lost on the way.

Me too. The postman has been handling hundreds and hundreds of letters and parcels. Thr virus doesn't last on paper and card but we don't know if the postman has the virus!

I think the safest way to be is to imagine that every person has the virus and take precautions based on that. So not only do I imagine that the postman has the virus but that the person who sent my CDs had it too. If the CDs came from USA and took two weeks to arrive I wouldn't put them in the corner with their water bowl and biscuit (very good Solium) but if they were from the UK and took a day to arrive then I am afraid they they would be put in lockdown.

I also put up a cardboard box to quarantine my mail for some days.

There is a certain risk that you won't get your order (within the next months or ever) if the mail has to travel by air or if it has to be handled by a sorting center located in a "hot spot". Most passenger flights from and to Europe have been cancelled. These flights normally transport a lot of mail and merchandise. If I wanted to send a CD to the US I would have to pay for EMS service or expedited package service as my local European postal service isn't accepting letters containing merchandise or small packets to the US anymore. All or most mail items from and to Europe travel through the USPS International Service Center (ISC) in New York. I'm quite sure that the USPS network will collapse if the US airlines should cancel flights in the same extent as seen in Europe. Even media mail is transported by air.

As I work for royal maiI think I can say that the mail will continue to get through.Even at the most severe, even if alternative methods are to be made.We have been given notification that we are classed as front line/ essential service and as such we have to keep working,as much as I'd like to role up in a duvet.

Yes, Europe's postal networks aren't dependent on domestic flights for national mail.

Believe.it or not ,no.Some of us are ,some no.Firstly they only arrived in the office several days ago, rather late! Secondly when you are out , on the streets , delivering they would / could become contaminated ,anyway. You would have a false sense of security because you have them on . It's better/ safer to remember not to pick you nose , rub your eyes or put you fingers in your mouth .They are only of any reAl benefit if you arere in an indoor sorting depot , where you can change them regularly. And just wash your hands as often as you can.

Ps. According to our boss we should be getting some hand sanitizer, hurrah
