Of course about 30 seconds after I shot this, 3 Hollywood Bowl Ushers wrestled me to the floor and then proceeded to throw me off the premises and told me never to return.... Just kidding. But they used to get mad sometimes in the old days and tell you not to shoot any video. In this day and age of Cell-Phone Cams I think it's a little hard for them to enforce, as basically everyone just does it anyway.
I shot this video in 2005 and shared it with PR Mancini who uploaded it to youtube. So great that the Bowl would project their video of the event on their Big Screens that you could zoom into with your cameras and film all "their" great angles on the proceedings as well as shooting from your audience point of view from time to time.
I had a similar experience during the Boston Pops concert in 2014. I was seated just 2 meters from the podium, and when the concert was over, I smiled and gave him a thumbs-up. He smiled and gave me a thumbs-up back, just for me. Probably the closest I'll ever get to any kind of interaction with him.
