Hey all, Just wondering what your favorite sites are for soundtrack downloads (legal). Obviously there is iTunes, Amazon & 7Digital...are there others I'm unaware of...especially for less-available soundtracks. Frustratingly, a lot of foreign scores are only available if you use that regions version of the store. TYIA!

HDTracks is another major site. https://www.hdtracks.com/ Qobuz seems to have a big catalog, and the prices are usually the best too. https://www.qobuz.com/us-en/ Tidal often has new releases that I'm looking for at CD quality (or better), but they're also very expensive, and their download system is weird: https://store.tidal.com/us/ Especially now, I appreciate digital downloads. You pay about the same and can have it instantly, without having to pay additional shipping costs, etc. Whenever I do buy CDs (usually Intrada, LLL, or VCL releases), I basically just rip them once and then stick them in my closet.

What happens once the CDs are in the closet, JOHN? I do the same thing John does- I've ripped everything I own to an SD card for my music player. I still refer to the CDs and liner notes if I'm looking something up or chasing some info down a rabbit hole. I'm not so hot on download-only because CDs are mostly permanent and I can't so easily refer to the liner notes though I have a couple albums I wanted but could not have gotten any other way (Vince Guaraldi Lost Cues 1&2, and a couple others).

I use 7Digital and Qobuz................For new albums I will always take the download option if available. Surely it's only a matter of time for when specialist labels offer downloads alongside CDs?

They do, at least, if they can do it. Obviously, a lot of the specialty label's output only gets a limited license/release and no download rights, but Intrada and Varèse Sarabande offer some of their output as digital downloads. Also, sometimes Universal, Paramount etc. later offer digital downloads of specialty releases originally prepared for by our beloved specialty labels.

Good inclusion, prestomusic. There are of course also classical labels that sell their own downloads, like https://www.hyperion-records.co.uk or https://www.chandos.net. Also https://www.eclassical.com sometimes has good offers (when you subscribe to their newsletter, for example). Of course, these are more classical music oriented, but you can find film scores there as well, usually newly recorded (these labels usually release their own recordings, not licensed third party recordings), like Chandos' film music series with music by Bernard Herrmann or Ron Goodwin conducted by Rumon Gamba.
