I just recorded Laurie Johnson's score to HOT MILLIONS (1968) from a TCM broadcast. I got all the highlights anyway, which are considerable: 20 selections totaling 25 minutes. Does anyone know if the romantic piano and flute scene was composed by Johnson, or was it existing classical music? And how about the end titles? Laurie Johnson is one of those guys like Barry Gray, Ron Grainer, and of-the-period John Barry: their scores are more than that, they're an era.

I love Johnsons score. It has such a catchy main theme. It is a fabulous film too. I actually have a big poster for it stuck on the wall of my den. The end titles where Ustinov is conducting Smith is Haydn's Flute Concerto ist mvmnt. The scene where Smith plays the flute in her flat is Gluck's Dance of the Blessed Spirits. Thanks, that's good info for my notes.

Some years back, Johnson recorded an album of a whole lot of his TV and movie themes called THE ROSE AND THE GUN. It included three selections from HOT MILLIONS (the main theme, the love theme and the "rock" song in an instrumental version). There is a total of 19 tracks. The CD is out of print (I believe), but there is an MP3 version on Amazon for $9.49. I don't know about a lossless version, but then my hearing isn't fine enough to tell much difference. The film itself is wonderful (and available at a very reasonable price from Amazon [possibly as a manufactured to order]), and the score (particularly the main theme) is sublime.
