In honor of Disco Stu, Jim Phelps and "Saturday Night Fever".
But a couple of conditions: One, they had to actually be played in discos, and two, try not to veer TOO off course into what might more properly be described as Funk or R&B (I realize sometimes the distinction can be pretty this).
In no particular order... 01) You Should Be Dancing (Bee Gees) 02) I Feel Love (Donna Summer) 03) More, More, More (Andrea True Connection) 04) Fly Robin Fly (Silver Convention) 05) Born To Be Alive (Patrick Hernandez) 06) Funkytown (Lipps Inc.) 07) That's The Way I Like It (KC & The Sunshine Band) 08) Rasputin (Boney M) 09) Disco Inferno (Trammps) 10) Knock On Wood (Amii Stewart)
This was a lot harder than it looked. It was murder to leave off stuff like "TSOP" or "Rock Your Baby". I guess I played it pretty safe--not a lot of obscure or hardcore stuff there.
Oh, almost forgot--it has to be between 1975 and 1980!
I'm not sure what my top 10 are, but I would add...
"Boogie Wonderland" (Earth, Wind and Fire) "Don't Stop the Train" (Phyllis Nelson) "Shame" (Evelyn "Champagne" King) "Come To Me" (France Joli) "So Many Men, So Little Time" (Miquel Brown)
Probably the really good stuff is the earlier (1972-75) quasi-underground Latino club tracks. There is a recent book, "The Disco Files 1973-78" by Vince Aletti, a columnist for Record World in the 1970s, who compiled DJ top ten playlists from around the U.S. It would take a lot of time YouTubing some of the lesser-known disco songs on those lists, but there are definitely some winners there.
To avoid the "is it Disco?" argument, I will choose only those songs that are blatantly, obviously disco.

*Changed a few to adhere to the 1975-80 time frame.
I never understood how they were not given their own variety show when they were young. Pros: look what it did for The Hudson Brothers. Cons: look what it did to The Hudson Brothers.
Thanks, Octoberman! Great thread! Not in order, don't know that I can rank them, except for Groove Line - my #1, I think:
