Decided to revisit this thread which I started for Thor and moolik just a little after the 2020 Varese Goldsmith poll... it's amazing to see how many Goldsmith *premieres* we have gotten since April 2020! I wonder if I should re-run this poll just as I did the other. Here are the items I mentioned in my original post which have since been released:

1. The score must have its original recording totally unreleased. Less than 20 minutes included on Varese's expensive and OOP Goldsmith at Fox box? Doesn't matter: S*P*Y*S, Anna and the King, and A Tree Grows in Brooklyn do *not* qualify.

Hey, we got significantly expanded versions of these three scores too, courtesy of La-La Land! Huzzah!

Black Patch (1957) -- his first feature score; my complete score breakdown with hopeful "advance liner notes":

Though I didn't count re-recordings when I ran this poll (so things like The Salamander were still included since the film recording remains lost and unreleased), it's worth noting here that Intrada Records produced a brilliant new recording of this complete score with William Stromberg conducting the Royal Scottish National Orchestra:

A special Production Report podcast we recorded with William Stromberg, Leigh Phillips, and the Intrada gan only three weeks after the recording sessions took place:

Face of a Fugitive (1959) -- his third feature score (second western); my complete score breakdown with hopeful "advance liner notes":

For this one Intrada Records found and released the original film recording and it's wonderful!

General Electric Theater (at least eight episodes?) (1959-1962) -- IMDb credits him with only six episodes of this famed anthology series, but they fail to mention "My Dark Days" Part 2: "Aftermath" (which we assume he scored since he did Part 1: "Prelude", which we have at The Goldsmith Odyssey) and "The Legend That Walks Like a Man", which we have and covered recently (playing every cue) on Episode 25 of The Goldsmith Odyssey:

Do the original recordings exist somewhere alongside Thriller in the Revue/Universal TV archives? Who knows, but Leigh Phillips is in the process of tackling new recordings of Goldsmith's work for this series with the help of The Goldsmith Odyssey! (Hey David it was your original #1 pick in this thread; how cool is that?) Two excellent scores have been recorded so far -- one from original written scores ("Sarah's Laughter") and one reconstructed by ear ("The Bar Mitzvah of Major Orlovsky"), both available in lossless CD quality audio for only £4 each here, with ACTUAL detailed liner notes by yours truly!
https://www.lpfilmmusic.co.uk/shop
Here's the Production Report podcast episode we recorded with Leigh, featuring samples from both scores:
https://goldsmithodyssey.buzzsprout.com/159614/10957890-production-report-the-bar-mitzvah-of-major-orlovsky-sarah-s-laughter-2022-leigh-phillips-recording

Leigh is recording two more scores ("Hitler's Secret" from the written music and "The Legend That Walks Like a Man" reconstructed by ear) at the end of THIS month, his second Kickstarter campaign ending successfully just a few weeks ago. The plan is to eventually get all of the Goldsmith scores we can find for this series newly recorded, so stay tuned for more campaigns!

Prudence and the Chief (unsold pilot) (1970) -- Excellent unreleased western score; in fact the major key secondary theme in Rio Lobo originated in this score! Thanks to collector Ron Burbella, The Goldsmith Odyssey will be covering this eventually, probably paired with the pilot score to Anna and the King...some of you may have seen this with Ron a few years back when he showed it in L.A.

This delightful 15 minute score was premiered in complete form by La-La Land Records on their spectacular Goldsmith at 20th Vol. V -- Music for Television release:

The Man (1972) -- my complete score breakdown (matched to film on YouTube) with hopeful "advance liner notes":
http://filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=113568&forumID=1&archive=0

Reconstructed by Leigh Phillips and conducted by William Stromberg, this was paired with Black Patch on Intrada's new recording:
https://store.intrada.com/s.nl/it.A/id.12470/.f?sc=13&category=-113

Shamus (1973) -- Lukas Kendall confirmed lost years ago

And what was lost was found... by Intrada!
https://store.intrada.com/s.nl/it.A/id.12187/.f?sc=16&category=23345
(Alas, we didn't find the time to record a Soundtrack Spotlight for this fun premiere.)

The Don Is Dead (1973) -- This was never said to be lost; I suspect it just needs to be rescued from the Universal vaults, like Thriller and the film recording of MacArthur!

And it was... by Intrada!
https://store.intrada.com/s.nl/it.A/id.12192/.f?sc=16&category=23345
It also spurred the very first Soundtrack Spotlight episode ever produced by The Goldsmith Odyssey:
https://goldsmithodyssey.buzzsprout.com/159614/5097955-odyssey-soundtrack-spotlight-the-don-is-dead-1973

The Best of Times (unsold pilot) (1974) -- UCLA has it on video in their library and confirms credit:

https://cinema.library.ucla.edu/vwebv/holdingsInfo?searchId=137&recCount=50&recPointer=259&bibId=159724

Under a different title -- "Only in America" -- this was also premiered by La-La Land records on their wonderful Goldsmith at 20th Vol. V -- Music for Television release, but alas only two music-only minutes were available from the mixed episode audio (score tapes could not be found...but maybe one day a new recording of the complete score could happen?):
https://lalalandrecords.com/goldsmith-at-20th-vol-5-music-for-television-1968-1975-limited-edition-2-cd-set/
We actually used the opening cue of this to launch this Goldsmith Odyssey chat with Mike Mattesino and Chris Malone:
https://goldsmithodyssey.buzzsprout.com/159614/11302249-odyssey-soundtrack-spotlight-goldsmith-at-20th-vol-v-music-for-television-1968-1975

The Public Eye (1992) (unused score) -- It was confirmed that a DAT of this score sent to Jerry by recording engineer Mike Ross-Trevor was found in the past couple of years and is being worked on by a label, but you can still vote for it as the premiere you're most excited for! And for anyone who asks: the unused scores Jerry wrote for Babe (1995) and The Kid (2000) are not included here because they never made it to the recording stage and tapes *never* existed -- if you want to vote for them then bump this thread about new recordings:
https://filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?forumID=1&pageID=1&threadID=93066&archive=0

Hey guess what? Intrada released this one too!
https://store.intrada.com/s.nl/it.A/id.12364/.f?sc=16&category=23345
The Soundtrack Spotlight episode with extensive sound samples (which he produced instead of the one on Shamus, because they both came out around the same time):
https://goldsmithodyssey.buzzsprout.com/159614/8759839-odyssey-soundtrack-spotlight-the-public-eye-1992

Hard to believe it but since April of 2020 we've gotten no less than NINE total premieres! (Ten if you count the two GE Theater scores separately)

My own top 10 wish list was pretty much smashed, with seven of those titles released (well, only a fragment of Only in America/The Best of Times, but still...)

It's certainly been a great time to be a Goldsmith fan. So... do folks want me to run a new poll? There's still a BUNCH of unreleased stuff!

Yes! If only to refresh one's awareness of what's still potentially out there. I suppose in most cases they involve titles which have probably not survived in an ideal form. Perhaps we could fund a garage and basement cleaning service, just for people in the recording industry. We might help uncover something!

Me too, as long as the even better score for CRAWLSPACE (1972) goes with it! That one would likely require Leigh Phillips reconstruction, but thanks to Brandon Drake at Neumation Music I know the written score for PURSUIT survives…

Speaking of what would be a premiere, here are a few minutes from "Man on the Beach":

It wouldn't be a premiere; it's actually been substantially released! It's just that most people know it on album as "Jazz Theme #1" on the Jerry Goldsmith Twilight Zone disc, because I guess a little bit of it was tracked into a TZ episode or two. The complete score in the episode only runs ~2 minutes longer (constituting 6 out of 16 cues) than the 9 minutes in that suite, but the unreleased music is all solid stuff and I'd buy an expansion of course. (By the way for anyone wondering: that "Jazz Theme #1" suite also exactly matches the film performance, so this wasn't some re-recording for the CBS Music Library, but the original used in the show.)

The copy The Goldsmith Odyssey acquired looks and sounds better than this sample, but it doesn't matter terribly because this is hands down one of the worst things Jerry Goldsmith ever scored! Some fun music, though it does often sound like something he just quickly dashed off... our conversation about it is both lengthier and more entertaining than this episode of television itself was, and we play every cue including the unreleased ones:
https://goldsmithodyssey.buzzsprout.com/159614/779305-episode-11-man-on-the-beach-1959-the-fair-haired-boy-1958

Also, for anyone interested the complete written score for this exists in the CBS Collection at UCLA.

Hoping for the third installment of Thriller scores, to include "The Closed Cabinet."

It won’t, because that score as well as “Last of the Somervilles” was tracked and included no original Goldsmith scoring.
