Please forgive me, if I missed something, but was Mission Impossible--Dead Reckoning La La Land's release for August?

--jthree.

It was the last of their July releases.

>>Christopher McQuarrie: "It is, quite simply, the kind of score they just don’t make anymore. And yet Lorne Balfe did."

sure

Yeah, even though I'm enjoying aspects of this new MI score, I still hear the sound stamp of The Dark Knight Rises all over this score, 11 years after its release, so no, Mr McQuarrie, this is indeed a score that has been made countless times over the last 10-15 years. And it even sounds just like Fallout!

I was going to buy this anyway, but if I was on the fence, this post would have made me race to get a copy! Love TDKR and Fallout!

Saw the film.
Absolutely LOVED IT!!!
Brilliant stuff.
EVERY aspect of the film was outstanding...the direction, the editing, the pacing, the acting, (here's the bit where I eat a mighty slice of humble pie)...even the score.
I was astounded how good the music sounded, especially during the first hour or so (woodwinds...low-end piano...Herrmann style mystery).
I was happy to see the full-on Lalo Schifrin credit at the opening titles, cos it is basically a Lalo Schifrin score fed through the modern machine, but it worked like gangbusters.
Shame it's stumbled at the box-office, but I can't wait to see the conclusion.

Wow! What was missing from the previous 2CD set that we get another one?

This is not a complaint BTW, just curious.

Dig this. The 2-CD album is good but feels long with a number of lowkey passages; a "Suites and Themes" companion will benefit the score nicely.

I don't get it. What is this new release? Is it music from the film or something else entirely?

The score has just been released digitally with an additional 15 tracks at the end. I'm guessing that this release is just a physical version of the additional tracks.

Isolated Score Track on the Blu-Ray released this week...

Can't recall if it's on actual Blu-Ray or the 4K Disc or both...

Chasing Grace

This was the main scene where the music stood out for me, both when watching it in the cinema, and when listening to the album afterwards. The pace of the music makes the entire scene, and yet there's a melody running through it to remind us of the emotional core to the action. I loved the film, but don't think I'll be listening to the album too often. Except for this piece.

Great piece indeed.

And despite my first lukewarm reaction last year, with a little time passing, I really enjoy this score.

One of the most grossly over-scored, and overly loud mixed score, of any film I have ever seen, it is really bizarre. Not sure how the guys at Paramount let this one leave the gate so badly assembled, it is a real mess. Aside from that, probably the film with the single weakest 'bad guy' of the whole series. And also the worst edited of the entire series. The director here just could not help himself out by chopping out an extra 15 minutes.
