MGM proudly present the world premiere release of the original score to the 1983 family comedy MR. MOM, composed by Lee Holdridge (SPLASH, THE BEASTMASTER, EL PUEBLO DEL SOL, OLIVER’S STORY). Written by John Hughes, the hit film tells the story of a recently unemployed Detroit automotive engineer (played by Michael Keaton), who becomes a stay-at-home dad while his wife (Teri Garr) returns to a career in the advertising business.

Holdridge’s score is a sheer delight, providing a sophisticated component to the film. Descriptive, romantic, funny…thirty-seven years after its recording, it’s finally being released.

Working from recently located original mono ¼” tapes and 35mm 3-track mag, the CD contains the main score presentation and additional source music in mono, with surviving stereo tracks presented separately. This collection has been produced, edited and remixed by Neil S. Bulk, and mastered by Doug Schwartz, all with the composer’s approval. The full color package includes liner notes by Al Kaplan, featuring new comments from Holdridge.

Wonderful! Just ordered. Upon looking at the track list, it looks like maybe one track wasn't able to be found. The cue that is played when they do the obstacle course. The cue is very reminiscent of the theme from Chariots Of Fire. Maybe Neil or someone can chime in. Glad they found what they did, but maybe a cue or two sadly weren't able to be found. smile

Welcome back Quartet. I have many Holdridge and Lavagnino CD's. Never thought about those two. Well, based on your sound clips, I will be adding them to my collection. Well done. Thanks Quartet.

It was not on any of the reels. We did an exhaustive search and I dug through a ton of boxes. Sorry.

Probably the same for Gonna Fly Now. But hey, I'm just glad the score is finally getting a release.

Thank you Neil, for helping make this happen.

How did I not know Barry DeVorzon wrote Nadia's Theme? Great to see it included here, as it's a key scene in the movie.

Isn't Goldsmiths Patton theme quoted in this one?
And did that track make the cut?

It's used at the end, replacing a cue Holdridge composed that debuts on this release. The Goldsmith and Conti cues are not included on the CD.

I knew the Conti cue was a new arrangement, but I always thought Goldsmith was simply tracked. But I have been wrong before.

Thanks Neil.
Good to know we'll be hearing some never before heard Holdridge over the tracked in Goldsmith music.
Really looking forward to this CD dropping into our porch.
Great surprise, Quartet dudes.

I'm still a bit confused on that though. Was Goldsmith truly tracked, or did Holdridge re-record it like he did with Conti?

Also, I wonder what "Monster Tunes" might be... So many things to look forward to!
