Jeanne d'Arc/Joan of Arc (1927/1983) [Denmark] Ole Schmidt -released [silent film score]
I’m not familiar with this score, and have only seen this film with Voices of Light (assuming this is Passion of Joan of Arc you’re referring to, which I wouldn’t have thought of since it only covers her trial and death). What’s this score like?
Tack, I was compiling a list of 100 Years War movies and managed to incorrectly include
"Joan of Arc" (you are correct, it should have read "The Passion of Joan of Arc").
I had meant to say "Jeanne la pucelle/Joan the Maid (1994) [France] Jordi Savall -released
Another "Joan" movie that contains battle scenes would be the 1948 U.S. film,
"Joan of Arc" (Ingrid Bergman) which has a beautiful Hugo Friedhofer score [unreleased!!].
"The Passion of Joan of Arc" music by the late Ole Schmidt I thought was fantastic. It was
released on the Danish label DaCapo (it's parent company is the budget label Naxos)

Thanks for the info. I'll have to give the Schmidt score a listen. Out of curiosity, how would you say it compares to Voices of Light and is there a print of the film with this score (I know the Criterion edition doesn't use it)? Also, the Friedhofer score for Ingrid Bergman's Joan of Arc is one of my biggest grails.

Grecchus, i used to see that LP in the soundtrack rack, always thought it was a terrible likeness of Heston. A soundtrack mate once said to me "Whats Peter O'Toole doing in el cid?!!"
