First time since seeing it in the theatre in 1977 or whatever.

What is this "Episode IV - A New Hope" horseshit?

Ah, you've just taken a first step into a much larger world. Not that it really matters anymore.

What is this "Episode IV - A New Hope" horseshit?

You must watch either the VHS, Laser Disc or Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (Limited Edition) 2 DVD set. Anything else is the bastardized version.

Except the A New Hope subtitle has been part of the film since 1981, so that will also be on the VHS and Laserdisc, I think.

There's so many versions I can't remember what was done when.

I believe that the newest alterations have resulted in a title change: Star Wars - Episode IV: Macluncky

I was really tired - drinking with Thor and Graham Watt takes a lot out of you.

I made it to the point where Harrison Ford and the giant dog entered, but I had to go to bed.

I enjoyed what I saw. Because I was not immersed in this series, it was as if I were watching some obscure sci-fi film for kids. It was like Mystery Science Theatre, minus the commentary.

Ms. Birri was the driving force behind this choice. We will finish it today.

Ms. Birri wants to know if they make an R2D2 roomba. She looked online but could not find one.

I had not seen the original in 20 or so tears, so a few months back my wife and I watched it. Harrison Ford's character was entertaining, but everything else seemed extremely dated. The jokes were corny and fell flat, and all of that force be with you stuff just seemed silly. I enjoyed the music more than I thought I would--I tend to like Williams less symphonic, less busy, less Korngold/Elgar, and more adult and dramatic. I now the series is beloved, and I don't mean to offend, but it's clearly not for me.

I hear you. I will finish this today, but I doubt that the sequels will be in the cards.

Do you know if they make an R2D2 roomba?

OnyaBirri's lukewarm (no pun intended) reaction to re-watching Star Wars. Shocking.

Artoo's humble vacuum-esque origins are, in fact, revealed in Ernie Fosselius's short film "Hardware Wars".
See it if you can-a splendid time will be had.

For all the mythological underpinnings (from Kurosawa to Joseph Campbell and what-have-you), I think that was basically its intention. A FLASH GORDON-type adventure for kids. That it became such a huge, age-spanning phenomenon was unexpected even to Lucas and the rest of the crew.

The first time I tried to watch STAR WARS I missed the chair and fell on the floor, but the second time I didn't have any trouble.

Yes, I'm sure that was indeed the case. It is interesting that I can receive the film this way, more or less, because I have limited exposure to the franchise and no emotional/nostalgic connections.

I also drink while watching films, but I have never missed the chair.

I walk in to plate-glass windows too, and I don't have to be drinking to do it!
