At 0.08 into Boat Drill from Morituri is what seems like the earliest appearance I can find of what would later develop into the Rambo/First Blood ostinato. I know it shows up in a lot of other scores including some of his earlier works in various guises and forms. When it does it always gives me a smile. It certainly was a killer motif and was really missed in the later Rambo flicks.

Heck yeah. There’s a similar 5-note phrase used in The River Wild, with different notes, because Meryl Streep is certainly as badass as Rambo in that film.
