The score for the BRILLIANT new miniseries Mrs. America, starring Cate Blanchett, has been released, download-only.
I'm not familiar with the composer, Kris Bowers, but I was enormously impressed with the score throughout the miniseries and will report back as soon as I've listened to the album.
I'm listening to the score now. It's as gorgeous as I remembered while watching the show.
I'm not musically savvy enough to phrase this correctly, perhaps, but I love how it's orchestrated so that we can actually hear the individual instruments, and they sound like organic, expressive voices, it doesn't sound like the standard these days, where an orchestra is made to sound like it might as well be a synthesizer.
The album is 54 minutes, 34 cues. It feels like it has most of the important music I remember from the miniseries.
The show is the best I've seen all year, and the score is the best I've heard all year so far (though in fairness there have obviously been very few new scores to hear this year).
