Ennio Morricone’s Two Mules for Sister Sara to receive first official CD release

So it was great to read that Universal Pictures have announced plans to preserve and restore its classic library of movie music. The Universal Pictures Film Music Heritage Collection will launch this week as a joint venture with La-La Land Records. What is even better is that they have also announced that new retro titles will include the first ever official CD release of Morricone’s Two Mules for Sister Sara.
Great, wonderful news in fact!
However, I do hope that this joint venture will take the opportunity to make this release the very best possible. I’m hoping that the score will be newly remastered. I also hope that Universal have the original radio spots, because now is the right time and the perfect opportunity to use them. The Radio Spots are an integral part of the film’s audio history, as much as a Trailer is to a film’s Blu-ray or DVD release. Shamefully none of these spots were included on the Blu-ray release of Two Mules for Sister Sara. Which begs the question, does Universal even have the masters in their Archives? Are they lost or destroyed?

Why would you think that? LLL (at some point in the past couple months) has said it's still coming. Don't forget their release of Elfman's Mission: Impossible took half a decade to come out, *after* it was basically finished on their end!

Sometimes one just has to be patient. How long have we Golden Age fans been waiting on a complete Diary of Anne Frank by Alfred Newman? Yet LLL has said that is still upcoming as well.

i thought it was supposed to be the first one.

It was one of the first announced, but was never really given a specific date. I'm wondering if Clint Eastwood has something to do with this album being continually delayed, since Yavar mentioned Mission Impossible and Tom Cruise so I'm wondering if it's in a similar situation.

No, they never said that or stated a date. It was just in the first group of titles that were *announced* as being worked on for the series.

That bloody Eastwood, first The Outlaw Josey Wales & now this. The swine!

I'm still expecting it, to be a film score fan you have to be patient.

I'm listening to the Legend release and it doesn't sound too bad at all. Better than I remembered anyway. Certainly listenable. I take it is from a vinyl source?

Just be patient. Sometimes these things take longer than originally anticipated.

What are you, a mere child? I'm still waiting for EIGER SANCTION, although I can't imagine why Clint would care even if he has control over it.

Whoa, did not even know this was coming.... I should actually add this to my personal "holy grail" list.... one of the great Ennio Morricone Western scores, this time for a Don Siegel American Western... a favorite since childhood days.
Anyway, save a copy for me, guys!

Not to put words in his mouth but Mike Matessino more or less confirmed that EIGER was on the table in his recent interview on the Legacy of John Williams podcast. It was basically, it's there and they'll get to it as time allows.

Found it on the "On Green Shores, Distant Lands, Farms and Rivers: Mike Matessino Talks ‘Far and Away’ and ‘The River’ podcast, at 73:30 minutes in. He did not sound enthusiastic so I won't hold my breath. They discuss it very politely like it's a freakish, runt-of-the-litter offspring.

Mike has always stated that he can’t talk about possible releases, so if he sounds less than excited about a certain score's future, it comes with the territory.....

Did you read the next line? It wasn't on his radar, and it didn't seem like a winner to anyone in the room except the interviewer who sheepishly mentioned the score's merits. Of course, it ended with the obligatory "yeah, it should get released" which doesn't mean anything. Maybe this a typical conversation for everything except "Star Wars." As a fan of EIGER, I couldn't help take umbrage.
