The Undertaker (Der Bestatter) is a Swiss crime TV-series (SRF) which is also shown in US-television. I think it is channel MHz Choice but since I' m from Europe I don' t really know this channel: https://watch.mhzchoice.com/the-undertaker/season:1
About the story: Luc Conrad, an ex-cop turned undertaker and investigates strange deaths. It doesn' t make it easier that he had a releationship with Inspector Anna-Maria in the past.
In total the series "The Undertaker" consists of: - 7 seasons with 40 episodes between 2013 - 2019 - 1 cinema movie from 2023
All music was composed by Raphael Benjamin Meyer. He studied Early Music at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis and School Music II at the Hochschule für Musik Basel and completed both courses of study in 2011 with the "Master of Arts in Music". Master classes with renowned composers such as Michael Giacchino, Dave Grusin, Christopher Lennertz or Bruno Coulais complete his education. As a freelance composer, he writes music for film, TV and computer game productions as well as commissioned works for the concert hall. His music has been nominated for several awards (including three consecutive nominations for the "Jerry Goldsmith Award") and is performed internationally. Raphael is a lecturer at the IAM (Internationaler Arbeitskreis für Musik), guest lecturer at the Zurich University of the Arts and the Basel University of Music, and is conductor of several Swiss recorder orchestras.
For "The Undertaker" he composed a great score for this TV-series, full of themes. One key element is the variation of the main theme (with organ, with a monk choir, as polka ...).
The Undertaker has perhaps the most complete discography for a Swiss series ever with different releases for the music, all released by Alhambra Records:
- Season 1 - 5 were released as a 3-CD-Set (A 9044) - Season 6 + 7 is the newest release as a 2-CD-Set (A 9067) - The Cinema movie was released as 1CD (A 9069)
So with all these CDs "The Undertaker" is perheps the best documented Soundtrack-release for a Swiss-Series. By the way Alhambra also released the music for WILDER another Swiss-crime-series with music by Adrian Frutiger which goes more in the direction of Mark Snow...
