Master score analyzer David McCaulley continues his *descent* into reappropriating Goldsmith's score into 'Alien' as it was intended today with "The Landing". In honor of his incredible work and so many others, I thought I'd start a thread to capture some of these analyses for everyone on here who is interested in the musical mechanics of the craft.
In addition to McCAulley, I've seen fantastic deep visual dives from Brad Fry at FilmScoreAnalysis, the dude behind Sideways on YouTube, and the Art of the Score podcast guys really go for it. In terms of written analysis you can't beat FSM alums Doug Adams and Jeff Bond. Who am I missing?

I love the 'Cue the Music' guy's voice. It always feels like we're half into a 12 pack talking shop on his porch.
McCaulley just posted the score restore for the "The Facehugger” sequence. I'm one of the people that really likes how the rescore and 'Freud' excerpt worked in the final film, but I must admit Goldsmith's original composition is phenomenally rich and layered.
The guy behind the Cue The Music YouTube Channel, Scott Glasgow, is a composer in his own right! You should check out his scores -- they're really great. A lot of his work is available both on CD and online -- highly recommend his Curse of Sleeping Beauty, Riddle and Lo scores. Top notch stuff boss

I did not realize, thank you! I can't wait to check out his work. I have a have a weird affinity for his wan voice and dry insights. Is it possible to have a bromance with a disembodied voice?
Here is the first video score analysis that hooked me nearly four years ago. An excellent analysis/reduction of an excerpt of perhaps my absolute favorite music-to-film marriage of all time. I love that Fry includes the hit points from Williams' sketches. The only problem is there's about 20 minutes missing from the masterwork that is Empire's first act. Here's hoping we get parts two (and three?) some day.
