Hey Treverrow,

Treverowe,

Trevorrow...

I think I nailed it on that last one,

... How about a few perspective shots of that ship? smile Hard to evaluate/appreciate from a single head-on snap.

(1) First let me defend my critique. I don't think a father and son project is how films should be designed. Which is blatantly obvious when their great new design was to stick two additional Tie Fighter cockpits onto the opposing ends of the fuselage. Its neither inventive, pleasing to the eye or practical piece of hardware.

(2) Regarding my critique, designers are not what they use to be. We used to have greats like Ralph Mcquarrie, Joe Johnston, Syd Mead, Matt Jefferies , among many others. They're not only artists but industrial designers. They are highly skilled craftsman. Production designers today are geeks with purple hair and pierced ears who learned how to push buttons and edit pixels on a computer. This is not to say all artists and designers are bad. But a great many have no real background in art design. This is not the fault of the artists but the crappy education system we have nowadays.

(3) Yes, Directors can make suggestions and assist with designs. But that hardly makes them designers themselves. Make it look like a hamburger (Lucas) or make it look like a chandelier with an oil refinery on top (Spielberg) are pretty basic suggestions. Great for a starting off point and inspiration, but its the designer who brings it all together. Some Directors do have an artistic background like James Cameron and Tim Burton.

(4) Disney's Star Wars production designs are awful (IMHO). Its killed the Star War merchandising market. That's a fact. Toy company CEO's have flat out said Disney Star Wars doesn't sell. Which is why there is a big focus on merchandising legacy characters and hardware again. That doesn't mean you can't like Disney Star Wars stuff. But the numbers show a disinterest by the consumer at large.

(5) Perhaps my snarky way of commenting is what puts off some ppl. For that I apologize for. Well just a little.

STAR TREK: PRODIGY---Nickelodeon animated tv series about a group of lawless teenagers who discover a derelict Star Fleet spaceship.

Somehow I missed this bit of news. Sorry I'm going to be snarky again, but this sounds like total trash! How is this Star Trek in any form? Do they not understand the core principles of Star Trek? WTF is wrong with these ppl?

DIB needs to start a “Kirk Douglas (un) Dressing” thread to compliment the “Barbara Bouchet, In Italian (un)dressing” thread.

Nah! I had a very polite exchange with a fellow FSMer, and as you may have noticed, we were very civil. I think we both left the snark factor™ at the door - in this particular thread wink

Agreed. Not quite as compelling.

Not really A&C. I just got home after an afternoon of drinking, jumped on the website for a read, saw Star Wars fans and then thought it would be really funny if they actually made Star Wars fans.

Of course they do.

Not sure what low T means though.

Hahaha! That explains most of it. Sorry if the snark factor™ got the best of me.

As far as the circle-jerk is concerned, unfortunately the woke crowd partakes even more in that not so fine art. In fact, they've mastered that particular activity to a scary level.

The low T refers to low testosterone and I formulated my response in a way that could seem reminiscent to someone who follows US - insert the word that can't be pronounced here - on a regular basis. wink

All kidding aside, my apologie if I've offended you.

All good.

I could see how, not knowing my context, what I posted could be misconstrued.

I generally don't get into heated debate here - I leave that to others. My comments are usually misguided attempts at humour or drunken attempts at humour.

To be fair, i liked Saturn 3.
Especially held together and improved by Elmer's score.

The one thing that was odd - as Dragon says - was a rather old Kirk who looked like he was wearing a corset being swooned over by Farrah Fawcett. Not the best casting.

A film where we saw a lot more of the old dude naked rather than the young leading actress.

If you're going to cast Kirk Douglas, then you use every bit of him.
And let's face it, Bernstein was incapable of writing bad music, no matter how the movie turned out.
