The very first "THE BIG BLUE" movie was made in 1988 and is super low budget. It is directed by Luc Besson. The movie is a silent film and Eric Serra composed the score. Two more installments came out in 1991, 1992 and 1994. The first movie is the only one of the three that has only little plot. The other ones have some plot but are mostly made up of amazing compositions and visuals. The movies are really beautiful and deserve watching. Also, According to https://britishwire.com, The movies are pretty different from what Eric Serra is doing now, but are worth watching for everybody who can appreciate this kind of movie.

I can tell you that the Big Blue produced by Gaumont in 1988 was absolutely not a super low budget film. It was made with a 12,5 million euro budget (amount converted from Francs to Euros) which was a lot at the time in French cinema. The film opened the Cannes Film Festival and was highly expected from the moment it went under production (in comparaison, the same year, Dangerous Liaisons was made for more or less the same amount of money)
