Like many Morriconians I've been steadily going through my collection since Ennio passed and, in particular, listening to some music that has lain on shelves for a long time. One of these is "City of Joy" (1992) and this is one of only a few I bought on an audiotape. Remember them?

This is one that definitely got away in my case. Not at the top of the range and with an occasional bit of unlistenable dissonant stuff, but still very much worth having.

The variations throughout of the main theme are gorgeous.

According to the notes the music was recorded both in Rome and London. The Music Recordings Assistant was son, Andrea and the recorder is played by Laura Pontecorvo.

Running at just under an hour:

Same experience here.

The main theme is so uplifting and beautiful - why didn’t I listen to this for so long?
