On the brand-new favorite-scores-for-Olivia-de-Havilland poll, the top vote-getter by far is Airport '77.

Really?

I chose The Heiress, but noticed that the button wasn't 100% aligned with the choice. Maybe people are wanting to choose The Adventures of Robin Hood, but are choosing A77 instead?

I nearly chose Robin Hood, but ultimately went with Gone With the Wind for Tara’s theme and the lovely theme Steiner wrote for Melanie (My Cousin Rachel was also considered).

That's an interesting theory. I'd just assumed it was someone finding it hilarious to skew the poll to an unlikely winner (nothing against Cacavas, but between The Swarm and all that amazing Korngold, not to mention The Heiress, I'd be skeptical that Airport 77 would be a top choice.)

I have to say, I like your theory better. It makes me feel better about humanity. That feeling will pass soon enough. (Either way, I'm lining up a lot of new polls which I'll try to switch out every week).

Airport '77? Hell, it's not even the best score in that La La Land set.

...because, as you see with the Cacavas AIRPORT at 27 votes, people figure out how to stack the deck and it soon becomes a joke who wins.

Yeah.. really strange. Don't get me wrong as I love the Cacavas score, but between Robin Hood and The Swarm.... eek

It was when the top vote-getter for "favorite score for a film written by William Goldman" went to Lennie Niehaus' Absolute Power (as opposed to scores by Addison, Bacharach, Barry, Burwell, Danna, Goldsmith, Howard, Quincy Jones, Mancini, Mandel, Randy Newman, Shaiman, Shire, Small, or Shirley Walker) that I really lost interest in making the effort to write new polls.

I'll keep writing new polls for a while; just don't expect me to bother looking at the results.

Ahhhhh, that explains how the hell Jerry Goldsmith won the 'most soothing music during the pandemic' poll recently.
The vote buttons are f***ed wink

You never know. People could be making a playlist of A Patch of Blue, Powder, Rudy and other warm scores (instead of, say, The Satan Bug).
