Also in our reality, Jack Nicholson did express interest in playing the Coach Dale role before Hackman got the part. Years later Nicholson told Anspaugh he thought the director and Gene Hackman did a great with it. Anspaugh inquired to Nicholson, "Do you ever think of what would have happened if we did it with you?" Jack replied as only Jack could reply with his iconic eyebrow action, "Would have been a Mega Hit!"
