Difficult to say, as I have not heard them yet... well, I most likely have, but do not remember them in detail.

The point I am trying to make: Some people may like every conceivable (or existing) variant of the same theme, others may prefer more additional/new thematic material. I am in the second camp, but that's just me.

Anyway, as we now learned it is only 16 minutes out of 149, it does not matter much. Case settled.

Watched this show with my mom when I was maybe 6. When I hit 40, I got nostalgic and started buying dvd sets of all the shows I remembered and quite a few that were before my time. I bought the complete series a few years ago pretty cheap. It’s mixed quality but I’ve enjoyed it. Great location shots! Love the theme but that’s all that stands out. I’ll pick this score up.

Just one week away from the release date and no detailed information available yet?

Actually September 15th, not the 12th.

I really don't understand when an incredible soundtrack leader doesn't publicize this release for at least two weeks ahead of its release.A lot of people watched this show, and a lot more will watch anything associated with San Francisco. It's a winner!

Folks, tomorrow we get the chance to hear Patrick Williams in all his 70's detective show scoring glory.
For us who have waited a long time for this, (been on my begging list for god knows how long) - the $ are rolled and ready to give away at the earliest opportunity.

Do our labels target certain sites with their releases?
If there are fan sites set up around the world for certain shows or actors/characters, do they post a link of their scheduled release to make fans aware and hoover up any potential buyers?

They're hawking it on the streets...of San Francisco.

Except, to be overly literal, those are the streets of downtown Los Angeles (4th and Olive, to be exact).

La-La Land Records, The Film Music Society and CBS proudly announce the world-premiere release of THE QUINN MARTIN COLLECTION – VOLUME 3: THE STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO, a limited edition 2-CD set, showcasing Emmy-winning composer Patrick Williams’ (THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW, THE BOB NEWHART SHOW, LOU GRANT) original score tracks from the classic 1972-1977 series produced by legendary TV producer Quinn Martin. The release also includes Williams’ music from A MAN CALLED SLOANE’s “The Seduction Squad” episode.

Remastered from original Quinn Martin Productions elements, this thrilling compilation of original music from the beloved cop drama series presents stellar work from composer Williams, featuring his astounding pilot score and nine additional episode scores. All the drama and excitement of THE STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO can be found in Williams’ swinging orchestral soundscape. Featuring some of the era’s finest musicians under Williams’ jazz expertise, this dynamic music provided the series with irresistible energy and bounce – and the composer would do the same with his episode score from A MAN CALLED SLOANE (1979), which was to be the last Quinn Martin series. Produced for La-La Land Records by Jon Burlingame, and transferred and mastered by Doug Schwartz, this deluxe 2-CD set is limited to 2000 units and will thrill not only STREETS fans, but also classic TV and score enthusiasts of all ages. Since I've been champing at the bit for this one, and couldn't wait to order it, I didn't bother listening to more than a couple samples when it went up Tuesday. What I heard sounded great and just reenforced why I'd been all in this whole time.

Just now though, I had a longer look at the tracks and I see now I will absolutely, positively have to re-sequence the second disc once I rip it.
I love the main title, and it has some interesting variations across the series run...but I don't think I enjoy it enough that I want to hear a variation pop up every 12 minutes. Add in the end titles and it's all too frequent.

I'm glad this material is there for archival purposes, But I think most of these are going to be shuttled to the end of the second disc.

Other than that, everything sounds great and will surely make for some funky-awesome rocking chair music.

I have it, and the Munsters, in with an order for Final Countdown, so aural ecstasy is gonna be delayed a few weeks at casa Harper.
I'll look forward to hearing everyone else's impressions in the mean time.

I received my copy yesterday. and I just finished properly listening to it.
What a treat! I was a little worried when ordering it it would get quite repetitive with the main theme but it's actually very diverse.
Thanks so much LLL for this Quinn Martin Collection!!!

Just now going through CD 1.

Just noticed the Tower Beyond Tragedy has a piano figure that later kinda-sorta shows up in Williams great score for Sssssss.... the following year.

You can hear it about starting after 3:45.

It's not identical, but quite similar, and also shares DNA with LeGrand's quasi-baroque Crowning Touch from The Thomas Crown Affair.

Got it yesterday and it sounds great!

The liner notes on "Man Called Sloane" mention that Robert Conrad was a last minute replacement for another actor. The pilot film for this show had been shot with Robert Logan (from the "Wilderness Family" films) in the title role, but network execs reacted negatively to him and wanted him replaced and they specifically mentioned Conrad. The Logan pilot ended up airing after the show's cancellation in March 1981 under the title "Death Ray 2000".

If there's a Volume 4 in the future hopefully some of Bronislau Kaper's work for "The FBI" might finally make it to CD (that's about the only significant QM title left that isn't represented, apart perhaps from reissuing the Rugolo library music for "The Fugitive")
