That is a good place to ask about such a playlist on Spotify. Is there anything you could recommend? Could quality source/playlist for all songs connected to James Bond franchise but possibly without repetitions? That album look great too but I usually just listen to music on my commute and a Spotify list would be a godsend.

Album versions or film versions? The last version of this album had, wonderfully, the film arrangememts on it.

Surely these "Best Of" releases are aimed at two demographics: the new fan, and also the long-time fan of James Bond songs who just lost everything in a fire, flood, earthquake, or burglary.

I admit, I'm a little curious as to whether this set will have "Diamonds are Forever" in its original LP edit, or the 2003 expansion CD version with the restored, film-version intro.

Spymaster - Which version was that?

So the four sets of descending notes at the end of OHMSS?
The shorter version of WHATTITW?
Shorter ending to Live & Let Die?
Solid ending to Nobody Does It Better rather than a fade?
Shorter intro to Moonraker?
Shorter intro to Skyfall??
Dr No title track?

Now I have every version of this (1992, 1999, 2002, 2008 and 2012), but the problem is that sound quality keeps getting worse from one edition to the next (meaning more compression). It was nice that they included a disk with themes with the 50TH Anniversary package, but then again there was nothing that hasn't been out before.

If you are just looking for a compilation of the classic Bond songs, the "13 James Bond Themes" disk is still the best option. It ends with "Octopussy", though.

The 30TH Anniversary 2 CD set is worth the purchase for all the rare material, but all the other disks are not worth it (unless you are looking for a complete anthology covering the Brosnan and Craig movies).

I have this FYC, and I believe it's the film version of the song:

I could be wrong, but I don't believe the film version has ever been commercially released.
This CD shows up on eBay every now and then.
A copy appears to have sold in June for $20.

The 2012 disc:

Contains a couple of rarities:
- the short version of License to Kill, which I think is the film version, and which I don't think had been released on CD before
- the short film version of GoldenEye, which had only been released on the CD single before:

- the version of You Know My Name off Chris Cornell's album, Carry On, which I believe is the film version. The CD single of the song was a different recording. On the CD single he sings "I've seen diamonds cut through harder men" but on his album he sings "I've seen THIS diamond cut through harder men," like in the film.

However the 2012 CD still does not contain the film version of Die Another Day, which I believe is only on this CD single:

It's labeled "Radio Edit"

I could be wrong, but I don't think the film version of The World is Not Enough has ever been released, the CD single was identical to the album version.

Why bring this out to tie in with the new film and then not include the new song? Seems kinda daft.

It's always been that way. People should buy the sampler AND the new album/single.

Most of it is the same old beef stew from past collections. Bond collectors have most of this. My favorite collection
is "The Best of James Bond 30th Anniversary Edition" (1992 EMI Records USA) with the radio spots,
demo of "YOLT", Dionne Warwick's unused "Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" and Barry's "Thunderball Suite" some of which sounds like "Yellow Bird" at least to my ears.
