Mrs. Vorhees above all, followed by Booker's Jason in Part 3 because he had a bit of "character." Then Jason 6 as the zombie more or less with those quick movement.

Female leads Ginny (if I've got that correct) from Part 2 because she was serious but also intelligent and had a sense of humor. She had a little bit of psychology on Jason at the bar. But if you want straight drama than the girl from Part 4. I'm sure there's others I've forgotten about.

Again I'll stick with the outro to Part 4 despite 6. I prefer the early ones but none of them I'd really consider "great."

I still own the Crystal Lake Memories book, but I believe the documentary mirrors the book. Anyone?

Edit: also don't know how in some polls they have Part 8 above 3. Granted the latter isn't very good, but in 8 now he's on a cruise ship, swims the ocean to reach land and is killing in NYC. So dumb. Jason X review: "If Jason wasn't in this, this could've been a good movie." Classic. big grin

I always loved the look of under-the-mask zombie Jason in Part VII (and to think the director had to fight tooth and nail to keep that in the film!)

Ginny for sure was the best lead.

Here's how I'd rank the series:

2
4
1
7
3
5
6
10
8

Part IX is the only one I haven't seen apart from the bits in Crystal Lake Memories. It looks interesting, but at the same time perhaps a bit too different from your typical Friday the 13th?

The first four I have listed are all great fun in their own ways. Part VII has some weaker points, but very solid entertainment overall with some awesome zombie Jason action toward the end. I like the telekinesis angle, too. It's kind of like the Stephen King Friday the 13th.

Part III has a rather good climax, but there's a bit too much camp surrounding the biker gang and the origin of Jason's iconic mask is surprisingly underwhelming. Weird, uncharacteristic backstory between Jason and the lead as well.

Part V, which usually gets trashed, has its own grungy appeal that works. If the twist doesn't bother you, as it doesn't me, it's pretty decent Friday the 13th fare.

Part VI on the other hand, which gets almost universal praise, leaves me cold with its fourth wall-breaking comedy. Maybe it was trying to be Return of the Living Dead, but very little in the film made me chuckle.

Been way too long since I've seen Jason X. I remember it being shockingly bad in a SyFy Channel way, but at least it did something outrageously new and had memorable parts.

Part VIII was just plain terrible. Didn't feel like a Friday the 13th film and the further it went along the more it made you cringe.

The remake was alright, but I wouldn't put it up there with the best of the series. Let's just say it's not the one I reach for whenever a Friday the 13th rolls around.

I never really got the wink at yourself moments when it came across to me as straight horror. I liked the Tommy angle because he revitalized Jason and was involved with a sheriff's daughter who was the only one who believed him. So to me anyway there was this kinda intensity of Jason's coming but Tommy wasn't getting through to anyone.

Edit: that's right. Tommy was in a mental institute so there was this added layer of people not accepting Jason was alive.
