I think the first one done as a TV-Movie starred Andrew Robinson as Liberace. Another TV-Movie version followed with Victor Garber as Liberace and of course the last incarnation on HBO with Michael Douglas portraying Lee flanked by Matt Damon as Scott Thorsen.
I thought Garber did a pretty great job with Michael Dolan as his Scott. But the Michael Douglas / Matt Damon BEHIND THE CANDELABRA was indeed the most decadent and entertaining.
