I realize Varese recorded John Debney conducting a stunning performance of the “Suite” from Back To The Future: The Ride, but I was curious as to if we’ll ever get the original tracks, much like we did for Universal’s other ride, ET Adventure.
Im surprised it didnt land as a bonus on one of the BTTF releases from 2015.
I'll have to find the quote but Mike Matessino said he wanted to include it on Varese's expanded BTTF III set, but Silvestri did not want it released as he didn not like the sound of it (too synthy). I'll try and dig up Mike's reply to my question about this soon after E.T the Ride music got released.
I'm not sure which thread the answer is in, couldn't find it looking for 10 minutes. Mike if you see this and can confirm that'd be super. Thanks! (I still hope the track comes out one day - maybe on a future Universal Studios Theme Park Album)?
Much more fulfilling, and sadly unreleased, is Silvestri's score for the Imax short IN SEARCH OF THE OBELISK (1993) from the Luxor Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas.

Would love to have this, along with the other Vegas-related film (IMax IIRC), Siegfried & Roy: The Magic Box.
Thats a bummer. I dont recall it sounding synthy at all lol
Who cares if it sounds synthy? Is Alan taking the position that synthesized music is terrible now and must be forgotten? I just don't get some composers' reasoning these days.
I guess at the time he felt that it didn't fit well with a presentation of the Part III score, but in retrospect I'm sorry I didn't press the issue a bit harder as that's the release it belonged on. It was the perfect opportunity and would have put a button on his work for the series... at least pre-Musical.
