I'm in! This could be my first ROUBAIXs score, so I can name my favourite French composers/movies - it's maestros Cosma (I really love his Le Grand Blond avec une chaussure noire) & Magne (for Fantomas trilogy)!
Wow. Thanks for the oppertunity. My favorite is Delerue. Love his work for many films. I really like his rejected score Something Wicket this way comes.
Thanks. I have no Roubaix CDs in my collection, so this would be a welcome way to introduce myself to his work.
French composers I DO have CDs of include: Sarde, Coulais, Loussier, Desplat, Talgorn and, of course, Delerue. Of those, Delerue and Sarde lead the way in numbers of CDs I'd rate as favorites.
So much great Delerue with Show Of Force and Descente Aux Enfers getting a lot of play recently. I also played his Mozart pastiche, Preparez Vous Mouchoirs (Get Out Your Handkerchiefs), almost daily in the first few months I had it.
I've recently gotten on a Sarde kick after Uncovered and Harem flipped my switch. Everything I've heard so far has been wonderful.
Ultimately my choice came down to Desplat and La Fille Du Puisatier or Gabriel Yared's L'Amant. I leaned to the Desplat, partly because I liked the film itself much more. Upon comparing both just now, I was wrong. The Yared seems a bit richer experience in isolation.
Hello, I'm in. Favorite De Roubaix score: L'homme orchestre. Favorite French film music composer: Vladimir Cosma, because he composed Le Grand Blond, Reality, L'aile ou la cuisse, and so many other masterpieces, for all genres.
