Regarding the 'on to the next one' mindset around here, that's a deffo yeah/agree from me. There's virtually no chat or discussion about a score CD, once it's been received and filed. I'm not expecting a day by day dissection or in depth analysis, but often, you can't even get a chat going about a score that's recently hit the shelves. And often, I will take one for another spin, sometime down the line, and try to restart some chit-chat about it, but the thread will sink to the bottom within hours (sometimes minutes). I've given up airing my thoughts, more often than not. A high post count usually means there's something wrong with it. Maybe I should mention a 2 second sound drop out or glitch. That will get their attention

“What Are Your Favorite FSM Tropes aka The Uncomfortable Truths Thread.” We had two such threads. Both got locked and we were banned from starting another one. There’s absolutely no similarity between what were a couple of joke threads and this, which covers the types of discussions we have here. I certainly meant this thread as a genuine inquiry about the preferred type of topics and favorite subject matters; not expecting this to be particularly controversial.

good thing we’re not Beethoven fanatics. Personally, I am.

Something that shouldn’t surprise me is how seemingly every FSMer has every CD release ever. When an FSMer does make that rare post requesting a release, it’s often for a promotional CD or a score from a film I never knew even had a release! I’ll forever be impressed by the sheer amount of music you people own. Ever see the laundry lists of what some FSMers (claim to) purchase every month? “Impressive. Most impressive.” Personally, I probably only own a fraction of the film scores some people own here, because I don't really collect for collecting's sake... I like to listen to music. I am more composer oriented than movie oriented, so my focus tends to be around certain composers, not so much getting every film score there is. I got about a dozen recordings of every Beethoven symphony though... and those are just the recordings I bought. :-)

I am more composer oriented than movie oriented. ..and that’s always been the tragedy of FSM. I’ve never gone in for the cult of personality, but rather what these often boring individuals can add to a film in terms of their ironically exciting music. I don't necessarily mean personality cult; it's more like I notice the music of a composer somewhere, then seek out if more of the composer's output interests me.

good thing we’re not Beethoven fanatics. Personally, I am. ...but you don’t cling to an “original performances only” hardline, I assume. Only Beethoven's own performances, please. Accept not substitutes. Though most likely Beethoven's own performances of his music weren't very good... Orchestras weren't as perfect as they are today, and Beethoven was going deaf in the later half of his life, so I doubt they would rise to the top. But obviously, I have always been a friend of new recordings of classic film scores. If I have a dozen Beethoven's 9th, there is no reason why I shouldn't have two Rózsa EL CID's. :-)
