Village Of The Damned is now expanded in a 2-disc presentation featuring extended cues, film versions of the score and the original 1995 soundtrack. Composed by John Carpenter and Kinks guitarist Dave Davies this score is a dark and suspenseful electronic score mixed with live instruments. Carpenter described their score as one of the most full, romantic scores he’d ever done. “My job as a composer is to support the drama, unify sequences, and heighten suspense.” Featuring detailed liner notes by film music writer, Randall Larson. This looks to be a pretty quality release. Original disc runs 33 minutes. New disc 1 on this is around 75 minutes of score. Disc 2 with 16 minutes of Film Versions, wonder why those don't appear on disc 1. Either way, this is about 60 minutes of unreleased of JC. It's a good day.
What kind of chump doesn't want more John Carpenter?
The movie was so awful that I don't remember a note of music, which doesn't usually happen. I seem to remember synth choir effects, but I may be wrong. I'm surely not sitting through it again to refresh my memory.
This new deluxe edition from Varese presents a darker underside to this score which was all but missing from the original album. There is even one of Carpenter's trade mark throbbing synth cues which harkens back to earlier scores. I've always been partial to this score from Carpenter if for no other reason than the amazing Frizzi like March Of The Children. If your a fan of this track all three versions on this album differ from one another with the film version being the most powerful with extra layers of synth piercing through especially in the last 3 mins or so of the crescendo. It's an amazing track. Curiously, I find a lot of the ideas from this score found there way into the composers Lost Themes concept albums.

Agreed 100%. I am extremely happy with this release and hope that Vampires & Ghosts of Mars eventuall7 get the same treatment
