I used to get stick off my soundtrack mates in Liverpool, for being a sucker for soft, gentle, tinkly/chimey music in my scores.
They even christened it 'Kevvy Wevvy' music!! (b*stards).
Like those 70s strings in a classic (or obscure) pop song, I only have to hear those tinkles over a soft bed of strings or synths and my ears perk up like a rabbit in heat (that makes no sense, I know).
I'm listening to the JUMP STREET scores now (LLL/Mothersbaugh) and in between the funk and electro-beats, there are some lovely Kevvy-Wevvy moments to be had.
I remember hearing Bear McCreary sooth me away at the end of his Philip K Dick/Electric Dreams episode, and thinking 'I've Gotta HAVE THIS music' (the track 'Swimming', thankfully, LLL gave me that one too).
It's gotten to the point where some of my favourite Horror Scores these days play like the score from a Nicholas Sparks adapted film (IT parts 1 & 2, Marrowbone, The fact, most Wallfisch & Velazquez horror scores).
I must have really loved whatever chime module my parents hung over me at bedtime when I was a wee bairn wink
Anyone else got a weakness for all things smooth and gentle?
