I have had a few of these for many years, and they get an annual spin from me each October.

I wonder if the Hammer/James Bernard freaks could comment on how these are generally regarded. They certainly make me happy on their own terms, but I have not carefully compared them to the film versions. I also don't know how representative they are of Bernard's Hammer contributions.

My specialist subject at last! Unfortunately I'm too tired to answer now, so goodnight to all!

I thought the recordings they made on thei first compilation, MUSIC FROM THE HAMMER FILMS, were very good indeed.

I was less enthusiastic about some of the tracks on later releases, but overall I thought they were good.

Cheers

Thanks Stephen. I know I have the collection called "The Devil Rides Out." I'll have to confirm the titles of the others.

I have I think all of these albums. I absolutely love The Devil Rides Out.

I find the Silva albums very much good enough for me. Though the recent Tadlow is a must have!

I did get some of the OST releases - the main titles comps (which are fun albums but a very mixed bag), The Mummy (the very best Hammer score, for me), The Devil Rides Out, The Vampire Lovers, and the Frankenstein compilation.

I thought about getting Taste the Blood of Dracula (my favorite of the Drac chestnuts, probably because it was one of the only ones I saw as a kid - and its predecessor, Dracula has Risen from the Grave, didn't do much for me). But I liked the suite so much on the Silva Dracula collection that I decided that was enough for me.

LATER: Ha ha! I guess I decided I did have to have the Taste the Blood OST after all, as it's sitting right there in iTunes. Apparently I am collecting a little too much....

Well, I still love the Silva albums. wink

I am now listening to the Silva album. "Horror! Monsters, Witches, Vampires."

This is one that I lost the case for, and it is in a disc wallet.

This is not all-Hammer, but there is some Hammer stuff included.

Yeah, that's another one I love. Introduced me to Curse of the Werewolf, and the tantalizing bits of Humphrey Searle for The Haunting and The Abominable Snowman are my favorites.

Do you mean the one with the green cover, or the one with Godzilla on the cover?

Confusingly, Silva released two albums called "Horror." I have both, and am now listening to the other one.

I adore these.

On the Devil Rides Out compilation, the Love Theme from Scars of Dracula and Christina from Frankenstein Created Woman are absolutely delicious.

I know that the Horror of Dracula material has been re-recorded more faithfully, but I really like the Funeral in Carpathia from Dracula Prince of Darkness, better than the film version.
