On episode 5 of this so far, all i'm getting is a Justin Hurwitz First Man soundalike in certain places - anyone else getting this?

Never thought about this, but now that you mention it!
Really loved that score (First Man) btw!

"The Landing" gets played a lot in my house! "Armstrong Cabin" is what I instantly am reminded of from parts of The Crown S4 score...

The "Simple Harp" variations on this S4 album is VERY much like "First Man" indeed!
Almost exact same! lol! Imo, that's not a bad thing wink

I like what I’m hearing in the show itself. It’s fare more present and outspoken than in earlier seasons. Albeit a bit inconsistent in style.

I think Phipps' score for series three is brilliant, particularly for the Aberfan episode. Having only gone through the score for series four on album once, I would rate it below series three and above the two earlier efforts. Anyone who is a fan of Phipps should check out War and Peace, which in my view, is a stunning score and his career best thus far.

Like with his season 3 CD, this one is also a grower. At first listen I didnt really LOVE any of the cues, but now after a 3-4 listens, I absolutely love this album!

Highlights for me:

Fairytale
Voices
The Diana Effect
Daggers
Commonwealth
Queen vs PM
