In another thread, I saw some mentions of such (rules/conditions) when considering a (new) venture with a (potential) partner.
Do you have a set of ground rules that must be ticked off/adhered to, before embarking on a potential tryst with another member of the human race?
Or is there more fun to be had seeing what kind of sparks can be ignited with someone who might have very little in common with you, making that potential journey far more dangerous and exciting?
They say we all meld and change, with the passing of time, especially in a long-term relationship with a partner, like the chipping away of stone, to create a perfect statue.
Is the opposite better, with two 'alike' beings finishing each others' sentences from the outset?
Would you pursue a relationship with someone who ignited all your visual boxes, but failed to meet your expectations on a more inter-personal level?

Must be somewhat generous.
Goodwill is essential, and goodwill is ruined by someone who pinches pennies in a social situation, especially when they've already been shown generosity and had drinks bought for them.
Some people have thriftiness drilled into them. I cannot get along with those people.
I once knew a guy who paid twenty pence less for yesterday's bread. He ate stale bread, like a prisoner, for the sake of pennies which never accumulated into anything anyway. Blows my mind.

Oh man, Nyborg! And I considered you a friend up till now. Why did you have to get personal? I shall now put you on ignore. I cannot find the generosity in my heart to forgive you. And, just in case you DO care, the doctors have told me that I'm fine, that stale bread is actually good for you (have you ever seen an ill sparrow?), and to carry on pecking.

Trying to think if I've ever seen a content sparrow. Hmm.
Is having to headbutt muck to find worms enough to negate the joy of flight?

Is a pulse overrated in a meaningful relationship?

I've been in a committed relationship since 1996.

When I was in my 20s, I was in numerous relationships that were entirely physical, in which I shared nothing in common with my partner. It was pretty clear to me that these relationships would go nowhere, but I had a good time regardless.

By around age 30, before I started dating my future wife, I made some rules for myself: I was not having kids, and I wouldn't marry someone who didn't share my taste in music, politics, film, and mid-century modern furniture and design. I set the bar pretty high and realized that I may end up single for the rest of my life. Luckily, it worked out for me.

If Ms. Birri were to be abducted by aliens, I would remain single from that point on.

Oh, alright. No need to have a pulse, then.

My story is VERY similar to yours Onya, without the rules about furniture and design (and some of those other stipulations).*
I was around 25/26 when I realised if I didn't spend the rest of my time with Carole (who I met in work), I wouldn't be as happy as I could imagine.
Luckily for me, The Powers That Be sent down a Love Drug to make Carole fancy me as much as I fancied her.
I think my good looks and boyhood charm really helped wink
And the rest is our history.

* she came from a family of Evertonians and is one herself, although she doesn't really follow football and although she likes music, hers is just a vague, passing interest and not nearly as obsessive as my passion for it.

I love this "his story" Kev. Sounds like a lovely life you both have. I had to look up the Evertonians part though. I found this quote "to be born an evertonian is to win first prize in the lottery of life" Sounds like the powers were working for you.

No rules. No conditions. Take it as it comes.

My friend mgh is correct. If there were rules, Mrs TG and I would have been doomed before we ever got started.
