Why, Dan, you're just the little reincarnation of Ayn Rand! Smile when you say that. It's a good thing.

...meanwhile (back to the plot), I have both releases of this score, Varesa on LP and Silva on CD. I prefer the Varesa version as it has, as far as I can remember, a few less of those electronic whooshes (for want of a better description) in it. These whooshes do send a shiver up my spine but unfortunately for all the wrong reasons (I generally play this score when no one is around). Don't get me wrong I think Supergirl has some good music in otherwise I would not of bought it twice. However, the main reason for the Silva re-purchase was for the Monster Storm track, my favourite of the score (LP got a little worn). Unfortunately the Silva release has an alternate version which I have to say, IMHO, is not a patch on the Varesa version. For what it's worth ... The VARESE release used early versions of the cues without the electronics mixed in properly on tapes marked "Do Not Use". The ironic thing is that the SILVA CD uses the cues as they were recorded for the film with the electronics included as the composer wished and presented the score pretty much as it's heard in the film. Oh well. Ford A. Thaxton
