Thank you,Eric. I love the music of Miklos Rozsa and the recordings of Tadlow. That kind of music doesn't exist today. Glad to still be kicking and ticking.

Why ??? Any problems with this one on RHINO ???

Well, it's out of print and fetching high prices on the secondary market, for one thing. I would welcome a new reissue of the original film recording, with the bonus tracks FSM later included on their Rozsa at MGM set included too, for completeness sake. But Warners owns the historical MGM library now and it seems that licensing from them is much more difficult and expensive than it used to be, so we may not see a reissue any time soon.

Another problem is that the original recording was done very "hot" and there's a lot of distortion in the louder passages which can't really be removed. Getting this incredible score in modern sound quality without that recording issue is one undeniable draw to the new Tadlow; another draw is the fact that it includes at least two cues Rozsa wrote for the film but never recorded (and therefore they weren't on the Rhino and are premiering here. When Tadlow similarly did a new recording of Ben-Hur a few years ago, I remember being surprised that one of the previously unrecorded cues was among my favorite pieces in the entire score!

I can’t say for certain, No Name, but I think that French CD is actually a gray market version of the album recording Rózsa made in Rome (and partly in London).

It's not a new digital recording?
Besides, this has some music that one doesn't have.

Which "Lord's Prayer"? The "oooooo, aaaaah"? Or the actual text?

The audio clip on Screen Archives indicates it’s the film version sung on “ah” rather than the concert version using the actual text.

I’ve been waiting for this release since originally announced. It’s one of my favorite Rozsa scores.
I ordered it from SAE with a few others and look forward to receiving it and playing in loudly. Love Salome’s dance. I hope they have that extra piece of music at the end which is not in the film.
I guess it was too suggestive to be danced to back in the day.

I'd love to hear the piano version that MR played (accidentally) for the hotel staff!

I enjoy many rerecordings, especially those of older scores with better sound quality. I listen to these more than the originals and have no issue with them not always being exactly the same as the original when I'm just enjoying the listening.

It's there all right. It brings the first CD to a close with a burst of energy that's one of the many great things about this album. I never realized tom-toms could make my heart beat faster!
