Sorry, I know this is off topic, but will there ever be re-releases of the Godzilla soundtracks? Those expensive 50th Anniversary CD box sets were released by Toho back in 2004.

No worries, we've been off-topic anyway.

Sadly, those box sets are still in-print and collecting dust at Toho's warehouses. I discussed this with a friend of mine who is a producer at a Japanese film music label, and they said reissuing any of the Godzilla scores would be difficult. I too would like them reissued. The 50th Anniversary box sets are indeed expensive and I'm not a fan of the audio quality for many of Toho Music Corporation's releases. Those box sets have amazing booklet contents though.

But booklet texts only in japanese. It would be great to have new remasterings of these scores.

Indeed they are. I use the Google Translate app to translate the booklets of the albums I own. A lot of valuable information is revealed after translating them. My favorites are the recording session and cue sheet information. Some albums have cue sheet transcriptions, while others have photos of the cue sheets themselves. In the case of the Godzilla Perfect Collection boxes, it's the former.

For my blog, which is essentially a database for the Japanese scores I own, I try to provide some of the information I translate.

If any of the Godzilla scores end up reissued, I hope it's Cinema-kan that reissues them. Unlike Toho Music Corporation, they know how to properly restore the scores they release.
