I’m pleased to hear this, and saw Ivanhoe up on Apple Music as well. Are all largely CD-only companies heading in this direction now? Will there be more simultaneous CD/streaming releases? (I might not have purchased Village of the Damned or How to Train Your Dragon had I known...but perhaps that answers my question. Not unhappy to have done but I’m always glad to reduce my physical media intake.)

Very disappointed the Matrix Deluxe edition is not available for download. Having missed out on the CD one can only hope that Varese reissues the CD or eventually makes it available to download in all regions.

Me too. And now I’m going to purchase them digitally. I didn’t bite the bullet and something kept holding me back ordering the physical copies. Probably they weren’t that high on my list. I’m so glad I can get them digitally.

The Matrix needs a real deluxe edition, sans micro-edits and featuring everything written for the movie.

Thanks. Meant to purchase Ivanhoe on iTunes.

Add Aliens to the list.

Be nice if Varese or iTunes kept some sort of a list.

Star Trek 2009 needs a proper Deluxe Edition as well. No micro-edits and everything included that was written for the film. It would also be good for the score to be topped off with the percussion overdubs by Chris Tilton as heard in the movie as well.

This so called "Deluxe Edition" for Star Trek 2009 feels like a personal edit that Townson did.

Bobby T. did nothing with the Star Trek Deluxe in regards to the music. He received the track list and files from the composer and that was that.

Lossless is now the only way I'll even consider purchasing an album in the absence of a physical CD.

You can buy it in Quboz, same as the first Giacchino's Star Trek

This is a lovely surprise indeed! I've been hoping for years that V/S would release more of their DEs digitally, particularly ones that have sold out. It's a bit strange that certain titles are only for streaming though. I'm hoping they'll release Air Force One, Executive Decision, Chain Reaction, The Abyss, The 'Burbs, Starship Troopers, U.S. Marshals and Predator 2 in the future.

I clicked on both links just now, and both say "Download Not Available". I don't see a purchase option anywhere :/

iTunes and Tidal are the only platforms available in my territory offering downloads, and neither of them have The Matrix, Star Trek and Star Trek Beyond.

7digital has The Matrix for download in 16-bit FLAC.

Qobuz is terrific, I have bought several lossless and high-res albums there (they don't have lossy files, which I wouldn't buy anyway), they have excellent customer service as well if anything ever goes wrong.

I can say I already have on CD most of the stuff Varèse is now releasing as Digital Dowload, but I welcome the step if future releases will be available as lossless or high-res downloads.

I still buy CDs, in case of deluxe film scores because there is often no other option, and because of the nice booklets, but if Varèse or Intrada now release stuff as digital downloads, it's great. I mean, the postage for a single CD from the US costs as much as the CD itself, so I'd definitely switch to lossless/high-res downloads only in cases where the CD would be considerably more expensive. I'm running out of physical shelf space anyway. :-)

I've heard good things about Tidal and Quobuz.

Also, these titles were very hard to find on Spotify and Apple Music.
They may had just been uploaded and it takes a while to populate on search databases?

Also, question for downloaders. If you're buying digital files but not paying for streaming... that confuses me. Why not stream? Is it a country availability thing. Moral objection.

No objection against streaming as a way to get to know some scores. But the ones I really like I prefer to buy (on CD or Hi-Res download) because in streaming things can be removed and you may not be able to listen to them again (like movies are frequently removed from Netflix or, in the case of music, like the Sony 2015 releases of the original Star Wars albums remastered that were removed and replaced by the Disney new masters that use different sources).
