Didn't see another thread for this. John Powell just announced on social media a new recording with the Philharmonia Orchestra, "Film Suites volume 1" -- just giving this a listen, and it is terrific! Here's the "Building the Crate Suite" from CHICKEN RUN:

Huh weird, it seems the 'auto-generated' doesn't actually give me a YouTube notification so I never got wind of that video. Stupid YouTube....

But if these are indeed suites (rather than just single cues from each movie) in a new recording I'm all over this!

My son just walked in as I was playing this on a tablet and asked "Why are you listening to the greatest montage scene music of all time?"

He's probably not wrong.

I listened to this last night. I was delighted that they actually used kazoos on Building the Crate! And it has a great "concert suite" ending.

I'll listen to this more in depth later. (It isn't on Amazon. Weird.)

Oh didn't realize it was out out.
Tracklist:

1. Building the Crate Suite from “Chicken Run” (3:48)
2. Assassin’s Tango from “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” (5:17)
3. Suite from “How to Train Your Dragon” (10:01)
4. Love Theme from “Two Weeks Notice” (4:42)
5. Main Title from “The Bourne Identity” (4:26)
6. Suite from “Ice Age: The Meltdown” (5:20)
7. Suite from “X-Men: The Last Stand” (4:47)
8. The Great Tree from “Endurance” (3:14)
9. Suite from “How to Train Your Dragon 2” (7:32)

A bit less interesting than I thought. More of a normal compilation type CD, was hoping it was like, 15-20 minutes a film. Still, new recordings, especially by someone as prestigious as Serebrier, are to be celebrated.

Oh wow, I didn't even know Volume 1 existed. Just bought it as a lossless download from Qobuz for $ 7. Very nice album, great recording!
