I certainly found Octoberman's and Solium's comments amusing!

I'm glad that this thread has proved to be useful! I may archive some of the thread in some way or another. I did offer the making of one or more new threads, and I'll certainly be glad to do so. I just need to think of what to title the thread and what the first post should be.

Oh that's easy.
"Godzilla Showa Era On CD".
And then the first post would be, "Continued from here:" and then a link to this thread.

I would have done it but I did not want to presume upon what you chaps would want.
This thread is too good to fade away.

It is too good to fade away!

It would have been fine for you to do, especially since you helped turn this thread into something fruitful. I'll whip something up when I get back on my laptop unless someone does so beforehand.

I think you and Increbula can take the bows for that.
I did nothing but stand on the sidelines.

Kudos, dudes.

I credit you, Ifukube, Increbula and myself for making the thread so great due to overall contributions. You asked interesting questions which I was happy to answer. In a way, that served as a catalyst for what came after.

Actually, my only contributions were early on, when I felt like Bruce was casting a wee bit of doubt on the sources for the LP box set content.
The relative authenticity seemed to be in question and there were assumptions made.
With all due respect to Bruce, I didn't think that was fair and I said so.

There is indeed a gem out there! It's a film known as "Under Aurora". Futureland released the score, but I assume it's quite rare.

Have you seen Under Aurora or ever heard the music from it? Yes, I totally forgot all about this early Futureland soundtrack CD. I just revisited an earlier FSM thread from 2010, where I stated that I really liked the soundtrack to Under Aurora, but I honestly can't remember if I had a copy of this CD, then sold it perhaps, or if someone might have made me a CD-R, but apparently, I did have this soundtrack at one time?

I'm curious, does Reijiro Koroku have any compilation CDs with music from this film on it?

This CD is posted on Godzilla Monster Music...

I to had/have my doubts as well. At least I tried to explain my reasonings behind my doubts.

There is another thing about the Waxwork set that I forgot to point out, regarding the track list for "Mothra vs. Godzilla". I noticed that the ending cue isn't included on the track list. I'm curious if it was omitted or indexed into the final cue listed. Unfortunately, they didn't include the cue numbers for the scores, so there's no way to know if the ending cue for that particular score was omitted or not until someone actually listens to the score. Another possibility is that they may have forgotten to list the ending cue.

I can't remember if I saw the film or not, but I do remember hearing the score at one point. I can't remember what the score was like exactly, but I do remember it being great. I'm not aware of any Koroku compilations, though I admittedly never looked.

I forgot to answer your question regarding the Kosuke Kindaichi films and their scores. I'm not too terribly familiar with them, but I've certainly heard of them and the various CD releases of the scores. The only Kindaichi score I have is Yasushi Akutagawa's "Village of Eight Gravestones", released by Shochiku Records and is part of their five volume Anokoro Film Soundtrack Series. The series was meant to coincide with Shochiku's Anokoro Film Series of Blu-rays and DVDs. "Village of Eight Gravestones" was the second volume in the Anokoro Film Soundtrack Series and was released in 2014. I own all five volumes in the series, and their all great! In addition, "Village of Eight Gravestones" is the only Kindaichi film I've seen.

It seems we're in the same boat when it comes to the Under Aurora soundtrack - we can't really remember the music, but we both know we've heard it and liked it a lot.

I have the original Village of Eight Gravestones CD (SLCS-5077) and always liked that score. However, I also discovered the music from the later Kosuke Kindaichi films, such as Prison Gate Island, Queen Bee, The Devil's Bouncing Ball Song and The House of Hanging on Hospital Hill, and these soundtrack albums feature extremely catchy, majestic music and most of it is a real treat to hear.

Ostinato, by the way, now would be a good time for you to start a new general discussion thread, so we can return this one back to the 18xLP set topic.

In that case, I hope the score will be reissued one day.

The unique thing about the Shochiku Records release of "Village of Eight Gravestones" is that it included the actual film cues for the first time, rather than the soundtrack album. Some of the soundtrack album tracks are included as bonus tracks since those particular tracks differed from their film version counterparts.

Already done! Here's the thread: https://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=143141&forumID=1&archive=0
