So how about your LPs waiting for a release?
I've got Shaft In Africa on an out of print CD from Rhino. If I remember it was one of their limited editions with a small pressing. It's in a cardboard replica of the LP jacket with no notes etc. So not a wide release.
Hello-Goodbye (1970) Francis Lai Le Petit Poucet (1972) Francis Lai Where's Jack? (1969) Elmer Bernstein Nevada Smith (1966) Alfred Newman Smashing Time (1967) John Addison (lyrics by George Melly) The Yellow Rolls-Royce (1964) Riz Ortolani
...& of course the three oft mentioned Rozsa Conducts Rozsa albums.
Yeah some of those listed have had releases of the unofficial kind, but I think there's never been one of Kaper's A Flea in her Ear from 1967. I got rid of the LP in the 80s expecting it to turn up.
Buona Sera, Mrs. Campbell (1968) - Riz Ortolani Enigma (1982) - Douglas Gamley & Marc Wilkinson Hollywood (1980) - Carl Davis Champions (1984) - Carl Davis
and, I'd like to mention ... as I want ...full CD releases of these easy-listening (film music related) albums ... odd tracks have appeared on CD, except for *, as far as I know:
Big Love Movie Themes (1971) - Geoff Love Big Western Movie Themes, Vol.II (1971) - Geoff Love The Onedin Line and Other Wonderful Themes* (1972) - Norman Newell Made In Rome - Themes From The Great Films* (1965) - riz Ortolani
MANIAC COP - Jay Chattaway PRINCE OF THE CITY - Paul Chihara DEAD HEAT - Ernest Troost BIGGLES - Stanislas Syrewicz GANDHI - George Fenton / Ravi Shankar SWAMP THING - Harry Manfredini INSEMINOID - John Scott SILENT MOVIE - John Morris
The Story Of Star Wars The Story of Empire Strikes Back
In that vein, I suspect The Saga of Battlestar Galactica and Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Movie on Record have yet to be released.
(Not that I would ever need to buy any of these in another format)
That Raiders of the Lost Ark one is pure class. Even at 9 years old, I could see that the presentation was a step above any others of its kind. There is no narration, so the producers added some creative license and even a Ford voice actor to add additional lines.
The gatefold presentation, the booklet, the typeface, even the paper they used told you this was no ordinary kids' record.
