Wish I had the chance to meet him or even send him a fan letter. I love the theme for Quark he did forty years ago. It was so wonderfully cheerful. Not a single recording of it. He also did Mork and Mindy.
Sad. Don't know if he got the attention he deserved.
Perry Botkin Jr. was one of my early crushes as far as film score composers go. I fell in love with his score for "Bless the Beasts and the Children", then noticed him scoring "Skyjacked" and "They only kill Their Masters" in the early 70s.
Then I was disappointed that his film output all but dried up.
He received an Oscar nom for the song from "Bless the Beasts" performed by The Carpenters. The track "Cotton's Dream" from that film became the theme for the TV Soap "The Young & The Restless".

I was fortunate to meet him just before lockdown last March when he was part of a signing panel at Dark Delicacies in Burbank. Lovely man.
That's weird, on 6Music over here (BBC digital radio station) they just played the Mork and Mindy theme. Then I read this. Can't believe it's at all related, they use random theme tunes in the opening of the weekend breakfast show, but that's really quite weird.
That show had a lovely theme tune. I was listening to it and all the years slipped away.
