Apparently, we're all going to die. And some of us are going to die a lot sooner than others. It can depend on your age and health status at the current time (but not always). Anyway, your family will bury or burn you and they will play some music to see you off. And if you don't plan ahead, chances are it will be Louis Armstrong or Bette Midler or Celine Dion or the End Credits from LIFE OF BRIAN that will serenade your final (?) journey. So, let this be the thread to place your order and plan ahead. It's usually three pieces of music* An entrance piece, a remembrance piece and a finale/goodbye track (and don't bother picking Bavmorda's Spell Is Cast or the Finale from ET, cos they just won't do it). Hopefully your loved ones will come here (to this forum) and give you the final play list of your dreams. At the moment, my entrance music is a processional piece from NO SOMOS NADIE by Roque Banos and my Finale music is the End Title from JAWS. I haven't quite settled on the middle piece yet. Possibly something from ALWAYS by John Williams? Or an Eels song...maybe It's A Motherfucker or PS You Rock My World (the lyrics of which actually begin with "I was at a funeral, the day I realised...").

I'm very sorry to hear that, Basil. My mother-in-law died two weeks ago and I will be attending her funeral this Friday. We are all processing this crazy fucked up world in our own ways. No offence was intended. It doesn't change the nature of the beast.
Well, I'm not sure about this whole "entrance/remembrance/final goodbye" thing but soundtrack-wise I have three pieces which I'd like to be played in this order:
Goodbye Carter! (Budd) Ninna Nanna Per Adulti (Morricone) Invenzione Per John (Morricone)
I've thought about this quite a bit over the last few years. I have several alternatives, but the one I keep coming back to is "The Face of Pan" from HOOK.
But seriously, folks, I've given this some thought like several years ago and in no particular but likely order (think opening, entr'acte, exit music):
Thanks for the links of olde, Howard. Two threads from BK (Burger King? Before Kev?). Interesting. We can't have music in the church this Friday, but we can play some in the Crem. I'm not going there re the whole organised religion thing though
When my brother died back in 1997 (because of a car accident caused by a drunk driver) I decided to have some film music at his funeral. I ended up choosing two pieces of music: Jerry Goldsmith`s Carol Anne`s Theme from Poltergeist and David Michael Frank`s In Loving Memory from the Steven Seagal movie Out For Justice. Afterwards almost everyone came up to me and thanked for the beautiful music that I had chosen. And when I told them what it was from they did not believe it was from those movies.
Anyway for my own funeral I have no idea but I guess I might want to have John Scott`s End Credits from Lionheart because I truly love that piece of music and perhaps something by Jerry Goldsmith since he`s my favorite composer. Maybe Love Theme from Forever Young. Or maybe something completely else, who knows.
