Very sad news indeed. I had to fight to hold back the tears when I saw the "Epilogue" video; they have meant a lot to me in my adult life. Incidentally, there were murmurs that they were going to score Argento's new film last year, but alas it was just murmurs. Now it's definitely out of the question.
TRON: LEGACY is a fantastic score (my favourite that year, and one of my favourites of the whole preceding decade), with massive crossover appeal that probably recruited more than a few new film music fans. But I love all of their other albums too.
I know they're notoriously secretive, but I hope we get to know some of the reasons for the break-up, and - more importantly - what's in store for Bangalter and de Homem-Christo separately now. If they have other collaborative projects lined up, if they're pursuing solo careers, whatever.
Damn. This sucks. Was hoping for another brilliant Tron score down the road if another movie ever gets made. Their score to Tron: Legacy was one of the best this century.

Agreed, but if Joseph Trapanese is involved with Tron 3 in anyway, it will be in good hands.
Weren't they cos-play extras in Tron Legacy? Wasn't one of them Holkenborg who broke off to do his own thing? Either way never heard of them. Oh wait, based on Adam B's pic they were Cylons in BSG!
