Here's the cue where Shaw arrives at the Party after he returns from the Battle of Antietam. Horner's music made me feel that Colonel Shaw was an Angel put on earth for a task or a very special mission. Always wondered if the piano music was an existing classical piece or an original Horner composition. Anyone know?
Cue where Colonel Shaw rises from being wounded on the Battlefield and sees how the war just goes on and on. Horner really captured the scene with his superb music.
The wonderfully joyful, uplifting and passionate "The Parade" cue as the 54th Regiment leaves Boston.
"Hoist up the Flag" (not composed by Horner) started out the PARADE Cue and Horner enhanced it with his music in the film. Here it is without the added Horner music:
