That's supposed to be a picture of the Mediabook, but it came up like that, you have to click on it. I should really go to computer school.

At least now the laserdisc will not be the only physical media representation of the uncut version. But I suspect that the laserdisc master is the source for the uncut version.

To this day, I still find it absolutely galling that MGM refused Robert Harris’ offer to restore the film. We might have had the uncut version in somewhat better quality if not for the imbeciles in charge there.

Yeah, I never understood that, & I understand that it wouldn't have cost them anything. Oh well, we are where we are &
as long as it looks okay I'll be buying it. But a proper restoration from Robert Harris! Oh, what a lost opportunity, enough to make a grown man cry.

I've been listening to (& can thoroughly recommend) the fantastic three-CD re-recording of The Alamo soundtrack on Prometheus Records. I think it's Dimitri Tiomkin's masterwork, & who would have thought that The City Of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra & North London's, Crouch End Festival Chorus could sound so American.

...& I'm sure it'll get an American release, or maybe not...

It has been languishing for years, Robert Harris was trying to get backing for the work for many years.
The studio itself seems totally apathetic.

Looks like they don't ship from Germany to the UK

I think that's because the release date is two months away. I'm sure it'll be available to order (from Amazon.de) nearer the time.

Yeah, you don't want to be in Leigh when they play the Degüello: no prisoners!

I must admit, I did find it quite funny when that Digital Bits article revealed one of the main reasons the film is in such bad shape is because John Wayne raised an idiot.

The Alamo may be the original proof that walls are ineffective against Mexicans.

Well I'm very happy with the Blu-ray of The Alamo, but the problem that's left a sour taste for many would be buyers, is that the Amazon edition very quickly sold out, & the Koch Shop won't export outside of the EU, & that leaves eBay. I see there's one for £64 & there's still four days left of bidding!

The French release goes on sale in a weeks time, I assume it's the same, but I don't know. God knows why MGM didn't license it out in the US (& UK).

Yeah, it looks like a rerelease of last years set (with a new cover). I still haven't looked at the long version yet (the plan was to look at it on Christmas Day, but I was ill over Christmas, not covid, just a really awful cold). As usual with Amazon.de, it won't let you order it until just before release. I'd recommend it, it's pretty good value for 30 euros.
