Blanchard should win, yes. Other than that - fairly boring list, though (like most nominations in all the categories as well). Then again, the Oscars have rarely surprised.
From that list I would definitely vote for JNH. Not just because it's time for him to get an Oscar but because News of the World is a great score. Of course Reznor and Ross will win...
Really pulling for Terence Blanchard. His score was (along with Delroy Lindo's shamefully snubbed performance), by far, the strongest aspect of Da 5 Bloods.

I saw all but Minari. Da 5 Bloods was a mediocre film, and the score was just flat out odd and intrusive. I'm a huge fan of JNH but the film and score were good but standard fare and nothing to remember.
I'm not a Reznor/Ross fan, but Soul is a really good film and jazz score is fun and infectious and is front and center of the picture, so for my money, thats my pic.
A poor, reduced field, at the Oscars for last year. It's like Foinavon winning the Grand National in 1967 after all the other horses fell down....... Leaving the Donkey to trot home the winner
You know things have got to be bad if two female directors get nominated
Wish they didn't pass over Anthony Willis' stunning Promising Young Woman (best movie of 2020 that I saw). Also Chris Willis' gorgeous Personal History of David Copperfield. oh well. At least the Oscars are consistent... but not in a good way.
